K9 Advantix II Information

K9 Advantix II

So let’s see just what this product does and how effective it is.

Manufacturer

Who makes K9 Advantix II? It is Bayer.

Ingredients

The active ingredients in K9 Advantix II are imidacloprid, permethrin, and pyriproxyfen.

What Does K9 Advantix II Do?

A lot!!!

It is more than just a flea and tick medication. It is about as comprehensive a type of medication as you can get.

  • Repels and kills fleas
  • Repels and kills ticks
  • Repels and kills mosquitoes
  • Repels biting flies
  • Kills all the life stages of the flea, from eggs, larvae to adults
  • Kills lice

Wow!

It really does do a lot doesn’t it?

This is very fast acting too. And it is going to ensure that Dogs, and homes, can be flea and tick free in a very short period of time.

How Does It Work?

It works by breaking the life-cycle of the flea. It kills eggs, larvae and pupae, meaning they cannot breed. It kills adults so they cannot lay eggs, which means that in no time at all fleas will be gone. It also kills ticks and lice.

But it also repels mosquitoes too.

Although this means that the risk of heartworm disease transmitted via mosquitoes is much lower, it is not guaranteed to stop them all. So if heartworm disease is present where you live then a heartworm medication should still be considered as well.

Now I will answer all the common questions about this product.

FAQ

How fast does it work?

It gets to work straight away and in 12 hours fleas will be killed. Any re-infesting fleas will also be killed within 2 hours.

Can you use on Cats?

No, this is for Dogs only and not for stinky Cats! Seriously it is dangerous so please don’t use it on Cats.

Is it waterproof?

It is indeed. You can bathe and wash a Dog after this has been applied and it still carries on working.

How to apply?

  1. Part the fur on the Dogs back
  2. Break the pipette seal
  3. Place the end against the skin and squeeze out some of the solution
  4. Repeat the process down the length of the Dogs back in 2-6 spots

Side effects?

Very rare indeed. But if anything does happen then see your Vet immediately

How to store it?

Safely and away from children and animals at room temperature.

Coupon codes for K9 Advantix II?

Now and then we get told of coupons or sales from the suppliers we recommend. If you would like to be notified of any pets meds coupon codes then please sign up for the newsletter.

Do you have the best price?

Well, we don’t, we don’t ship the meds. We just find out who has the best prices. Especially me, with my super sensitive nose, designed to sniff out discount prices. I think the price I found is the cheapest online. If you click my nose at the top of the page you will see that the supplier sells it much cheaper than the most well known stores.

Can you use on Puppies?

As long as they are over 7 weeks of age then Advantix II is safe for puppies.

How long does K9 Advantix II work for?

It keeps Dogs protected for a month. So you should re-apply once a month but never any more often than that.

Where to buy K9 Advantix II?

Use the supplier I linked to, or buy from the local Vets or from any number of online stores. Just be sure to check the prices before you do buy.

Is this the best option?

It really does depend on what you want out of the medication. It is certainly very comprehensive, that is for sure. See the K9 Advantix II vs Frontline Plus for Dogs article to compare these two most popular flea and tick medications.

Whatever you do use just be sure that you always apply safely and correctly, and that you ensure it does not come into contact with your eyes, or is licked by the Dog. I hear some Dogs are naughty like that!

Conclusion

If you want the most comprehensive option then this does offer slightly more protection than Frontline Plus. But I would just say that a heartworm medicine should also be used if you are using this to try to stop heartworm disease. Whilst it will prevent most mosquito bites, all it takes is one bite from an infected one for the disease to be a risk to a Dogs health.

Thanks

My dog, Bo, has been on Frontline for two months, now and has blotches on his skin and bumps…and I just saw fleas crawling on him as well. He keeps nipping at spots and rubbing his back side against his cage or the bricks on the outside of the house, rubbing his skin raw. I bathe him in tea-tree oil soaps as recommended to me. I don’t know what to do. But in researching, I found a lady with a dog that has similar problems and she uses Advantix 2. Thanks! Trisa

Trisa, it may be that he is just allergic to the ingredients. I would consult with your vet to see if you can find exactly what he is and isn’t allergic to. Karen.
